Forecasting the Water Level of the Euphrates River in Western Iraq Using Artificial Neural Networks (ANN)

Forecasting water levels of rivers downstream major dams are essential for agricultural and industrial purposes as well efficient management. Haditha Dam is one the projects on Euphrates River in Iraq that used flood control The area dam contains many strategic highly affected by variation river level. In this study, a neural network model (ANN) was created to forecast Dam. trained MATLAB with four inputs representing at present previous times. data utilized training daily 496 days monthly 241 months. results indicated ANN can estimate level (t+1) high degree accuracy. Furthermore, provide an effective technique predict empirical equation be compute regression coefficient greater than 92 percent (training, validation, testing, all data) 84 model. could simplified into practical straightforward formula from which two models calculated.
